A jet transporting the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official statement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The jet touched down in accordance with standard procedures and everyone onboard, among them Pete Hegseth, is safe," a spokesperson stated in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a quick journey to the city of Brussels during the flight.
This event isn't the first time that a US military aircraft carrying a top government figure has experienced mechanical issues.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was required to return to Washington after suffering a mechanical problem.
