A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
